The Department of Homoeopathy, Government of Kerala initiated the idea of speciality mobile clinic with a view to provide easily accessible health care to people then and there on demanded. This idea saw light in the month of August 2015.Pampanar specialty mobile clinic covers the panchayaths under Azhutha and Kattapana blocks of Idukki district. This clinic works with the co operation of Local self government members,health workers, clubs, kudumbasree units , anganawadis etc
Large number of people in these areas are illiterate and poor and are totally ignorant of basic principles of health ,sanitation and hygiene. There is increased population of tribal people and plantation workers too. Deficiency diseases, use of alcohol, tobacco etc are common.
Aim of speciality mobile clinic is to conduct medical camps and awareness class in regions which lacks hospital facilities, travelling facilities, areas where socially and financially backward people, tribal people and plantations workers live. It also provide preventive medical camps, palliative home visits, blood examinations, orphanage and old age home visits , de addiction counseling ,services and projects offered by Department of Homoeopathy etc.
Staff pattern of Speciality mobile clinic comprises of one medical officer, one nurse, one dispenser and a vehicle with a driver. The clinic works with the plan fund allotted by the Department of Homoeopathy, Kerala Government.
Camps are conducted in thirteen panchayaths of Kattapana and Azhutha blocks. It includes Periyar tiger reserve, Idukki wild life sanctuary, Kerala –Tamilnadu border etc. Special medical camps are conducted during Sabarimala Makaravilaku season for Sabarimala pilgrims. Medical camps and awareness classes are mainly conducted in anganawadis, community halls, libraries, tribal schools ,tribal colonies, special schools, orphanages , old age homes, isolated tribal settlements within the forest etc.
